Databases

The BALL PROGRAMS access numerous databases containing facility-generated data, employee, and resident information including nurses' notes and doctors' orders, which are encrypted to deny access to sensitive data as required by The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), Privacy Standards, and Protected Health Information (PHI).

The BALL PROGRAMS also use a screen saver to protect any sensitive data that may be displayed on an employee's computer screen. The screen saver activates after 'x' minutes of inactivity1, and returns the program to a non-sensitive screen. It also locks program access until the authorized employee re-enters by typing his or her unique password. At that point the screen saver deactivates, returning the user to screen the employee was working on prior to the idle period.

Ball Research, Inc. values the security of your data, along with the privacy of your residents and employees. In developing the many management reports generated by the BALL PROGRAMS, we have undertaken these protective measures in developing the many management reports to help insure that your data cannot be accessed by unauthorized individuals or tampered with.

_______
1 The minutes of inactivity required prior to screen saver activation is determined by the Administrator.
